Show Timeline Entities
The Show Timeline Entities command shows or hides the timeline entities window for this simulation. The timeline entities window allows you to specify which entities from the simulation should be shown on the execution timeline. The desired entities can be specified before or after execution.
Execution Hierarchy
The Execution Hierarchy pane contains the top level functions structure (and descendant structures) shown as an indented hierarchy. You can expand and collapse the hierarchy by clicking Expand All or Collapse All. You can expand or collapse a particular node by clicking the symbol to the left of the node. A red dot shows branches, constructs, and functions that have not been executed. The dot turns green once the node is executed.
Database Entities
The Database Entities tab lists all Functions, Items, Links, and Resources included in the model. You may select which entities you want displayed in the timeline by checking or unchecking the entities. The initial set of entities to display are determined by the simulator settings in the user preferences. Those settings determine whether all functions, items, resources, and links should be shown by default. Using the timeline entities window, you can specify whether or not to show specific entities, items, resources, or links. You can also choose whether to show specific instances of a given function if that function is reused multiple times in the behavior.
You can check all or uncheck all (depending on which tab view you are in) by clicking Check All or Uncheck All. This command operates on each of the Functions, Items, Links, and Resources tabs. If an entity is not checked, that entity will not be displayed in the timeline.
Simulation Model
The Simulation Model tab lists all Functions, Triggers (Items), Resources, and Links in the model. This is different from the Database Entities tab in that you can choose whether or not to display each occurring instance of an entity. This is particularly helpful when you want to focus on a particular instance of an entity but do not care about the other instances at this time. A [T] is used to identify the entities being displayed in the timeline window. Double-click on the entity, and the [T] symbol is removed signifying the entity is no longer being displayed. This is useful when attempting to view the timeline that involves a large number of entities. By turning off the tracking of selected entities, the timeline can be customized to display only those entities of interest.
